Welcome to Schell Smiles Pediatric Dentistry
From plenty of dental visits to pediatric dentistry
My path into dentistry started in the dental chair, not the classroom. I needed my fair share of dental work as a kid, which meant I got to know my dentist pretty well. Eventually, she invited me to shadow her, and that experience changed everything. What started as curiosity turned into a career I genuinely love.
I went on to earn my DMD from the University of Louisville and completed my pediatric dentistry training at Case Western Reserve University. Today, I’m a board-certified pediatric dentist with four years of hands-on clinical experience caring for children with a wide range of needs.
Pediatric dentistry is where I feel most at home. My approach is rooted in honesty, kindness, and clear communication. I want parents to understand exactly what I’m seeing, so I take the time to walk through findings tooth by tooth and explain what they mean. Whether I’m meeting a toddler for their very first visit or seeing a teenager for a routine cleaning, my goal is the same: make the experience comfortable, positive, and easy to understand.
The kind of pediatric dental home I wanted to build
When I started thinking about Schell Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, I knew I wanted it to feel like a neighborhood practice, not a corporate dental office. I wanted families to walk in and feel comfortable, kids to recognize the people caring for them, and parents to know they’ll get honest answers without feeling rushed or pressured.
As we grow, I’m intentionally building a small, close-knit team around those same values: kindness, patience, hard work, and plenty of good energy. I want us to know our patients beyond what’s written in their charts. The favorite sports team, the stuffed animal they brought to their last visit, the story they couldn’t wait to tell us. Those little things matter. The office itself was designed with kids in mind, too. One of the first things you’ll notice is our big fish tank, which gives curious kids something fun to check out and nervous kids something to focus on while they settle in. I wanted the space to feel modern and professional, but still playful enough that children know right away that this place was built for them.
I also know how much families have going on outside the dental office, so I’m committed to keeping appointments efficient and on time. No unnecessary confusion or runaround. Just clear communication and care that respects your family’s time.
Comprehensive pediatric care, from first teeth to teen years
One of the things I love most about pediatric dentistry is getting to care for children through so many different stages. At Schell Smiles, we’re here from those first tiny teeth all the way through the teen years.
Preventive care is a big part of what we do, including cleanings, digital X-rays, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, silver diamine fluoride, and custom sports guards. When a child needs restorative treatment, I also provide fillings, pulpotomies, extractions, space maintainers, and both stainless steel and white zirconia crowns. White zirconia crowns are an option I’m particularly excited to offer. They give us a durable way to protect a tooth while maintaining a bright, natural-looking appearance, which can be important to both kids and parents.
I also know that not every child feels comfortable walking into a dental office. For children who feel anxious, need more extensive treatment, or simply need some extra support, we offer nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and general anesthesia. My job is to help families understand their options and determine what makes the most sense for their child.
Schell Smiles also provides sensory-friendly dentistry, special needs care, hospital dentistry, frenectomies, and same-day emergency appointments whenever possible. My goal is to create a practice families throughout Mt. Juliet, Lebanon, and Hermitage can count on through every stage of childhood.
